Brockton Day Nursery, a non-profit organization established in 1894, is one of the city’s largest early education and child care providers. The agency serves the needs of families and children by providing comprehensive early education, care and support services from birth to 13 years old.
Position Overview
We are seeking dynamic, experienced candidates for the Early Childhood Education Director position. The ideal candidate needs to be creative and energetic and have a passion for working with “at risk children and families. This is a full time, exempt position reporting to the organization’s Executive Director.
The goal of this position is to ensure high quality, developmentally appropriate care, through leadership and management. The Early Childhood Education Director is responsible for supporting, developing and growing the team of educator in providing a positive atmosphere where children and their parents feel safe, nurtured, and stable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Hire and Provide vision, leadership, orientation, mentoring and supervision to teaching staff team of 30+ educators
• Pioneer program innovation and further develop and implement best practices to transform the center into a leader in early education
• Oversee staff professional development and program curriculum
• Manage teaching staff scheduling
• Maintain strong relationships with individual children and their families
• Act as a liaison between Brockton Day Nursery and the Brockton Public Schools
• Act as a member of the Senior Management Team
• Act as opening and/or closing supervisor on scheduled days
• Maintain NAEYC curriculum standards and DEEC Licensing standards
• Take the lead in the process of NAEYC renewal and assure that all accreditation procedures are followed.
• Ensure that the organization’s services meet the needs of the population served and are in line with the agency’s mission
• Collaborate with both internal and external partners to ensure positive relationships
Qualifications:
MA in Early Education or Education preferred
BA in Early Education or Education required
Experience in Child Care Administration required
DEEC Director II qualified required
Experience with NAEYC, DEEC, and QRIS required
Experience with high needs children and their families required
Independent, self-motivated, and organized work style
Strong managerial skills and experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to past a Background Record Check consisting of a CORI, SORI, DCF and Fingerprinting.
