Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation Gift Supports Teacher Education Assistance at Brockton Day Nursery
Brockton, Mass – The Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation has donated $15,000 to Brockton Day Nursery to support the new education requirements for teachers at the nonprofit early education and care program. Through this funding, BDN is able to offer financial support to our forty-four educators and substitute teachers who are continuing their education.
“Eastern Bank is proud to support the Brockton Day Nursery,” said Suzanne Fernandes, Vice President and Branch Manager of Eastern Bank, 1265 Belmont Street. “We work to ensure that all our neighbors have equal access to employment, education, healthcare, housing, childcare, healthy meals and other essential support services.
“Based on Brockton Day Nursery’s 119 year history of providing early education, enrichment, social service and care to the families of Greater Brockton, we felt that providing funding for educator professional growth and development was a natural fit
“As of 2013, BDN requires that all educators must be working on continuing their education for a minimum of six credits per fiscal year, said Vanessa Leite, Executive Director of Brockton Day Nursery. We have committed to providing funding for 63 credits per educator while they are employed at BDN if they are maintaining at least six credits per fiscal year. By strengthening the skills of our educators, BDN is able to fulfill its mission to enhance the quality of education that students from the Greater Brockton area ages 4 weeks to 13 years are receiving.”
BDN will enhance their Teachers’ Continued Education Program through partnerships with Bridgewater State University, Brockton Public Schools, Massasoit Community College, Fisher College Brockton Campus and Eastern Nazarene College.
Brockton Day Nursery, a non-profit organization established in 1894, is one of the city’s largest early education and child care providers. The agency serves the needs of families and children by providing comprehensive child care and support services from birth to 13 years old.
