STEM at Work
Brockton, Mass –Brockton Day Nursery’s Before and After school students have been thoroughly satisfied with the newly implemented STEM enrichment program. In recent weeks students have learned the important design aspects of bridges as they constructed bridges with toothpicks and marshmallows, and pipe cleaners. Students also worked on an egg drop experiment where they had to design and build a system that would protect an egg from a 3.3 feet drop and have begun exploring the 5 senses.
Children in the STEM Enrichment program will learn real world applications of science and math and build background knowledge on the STEM field. The ultimate goal is increasing their science and math achievement while also encouraging further exploration of STEM careers. The program is offered four days a week and is taught by grade level.
Brockton Day Nursery, a non-profit organization established in 1894, is one of the city’s largest early education and child care providers. The agency serves the needs of families and children by providing comprehensive childcare and support services from birth to 13 years old.
